THYSSENKRUPP’S FIRST TWIN SYSTEM IN NORTH AMERICA DEBUTS
The 21-story, mixed-use Coda Building, featuring the first North American installation of thyssenkrupp's TWIN elevator system, with two cars operating independently in one shaft, is open in Tech Square in Midtown Atlanta. The 770,000-sq.-ft. building, which also boasts the world's tallest spiral staircase, is served by 10 TWIN elevators in five shafts. thyssenkrupp observes TWIN gives leasable space back to the building by reducing the number of shafts, provides better energy efficiency and transports up to 40% more passengers than traditional systems. TWIN will be among the technologies tested in Atlanta at thyssenkrupp Elevator's new North American headquarters next to The Battery Atlanta. Up to 40 TWIN elevators will be installed at 50 Hudson Yards in NYC, joining more than 50 buildings worldwide with approximately 200 TWIN elevators installed.
